Good News for Clifford Chance, Latham on $7.4 Billion Oracle-Sun Deal

Clifford Chance partner Thomas Vinje got some good news Monday: The European Union’s antitrust authorities seem ready to approve Oracle’s $7.4 billion acquisition of Sun Microsystems after Oracle said it would keep Sun’s rival database program MySQL on the market, according to The New York Times. “This was considerably more intense than anything I have ever seen,” says Vinje, who led a team of 10 Clifford Chance lawyers working on the matter.
